Saturday February 20th Cowboy Division of The BFL On Toledo Bend
First I apologize to the winners of the event George Jeane Jr. on the boater's side and Co Angler winner Robert Moore for not getting your photos. I believe George Jeane said he was throwing a drop shot to catch his fish and I am really sure that Robert said he and his boater were fishing in housing throwing rattle traps over the grass. The tournament drew 126 boater and 126 co anglers and ole Toledo Bend still refused to give up her bounty of big girls and to prove it, there were only 103 boaters that weighed fish and of those there were only 22 five fish limits. On the co angler's side there were only 79 anglers that weighed fish and only 6 had a five fish limit. For a better report with interviews of the anglers please check out The Lakecaster on line by clicking the link http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/community-news/lc/ and for those anglers looking for standings they can click the BFL Link http://bfl.flwoutdoors.com/tournament.cfm?dpl=1&all=1&sr=1&rpp=50&cid=2&t=results&tid=6425&mc=0&coAngler=0&sort=pl I did get some photo's of a few anglers that had fish, so click the photo to get a better look. Finally got the co angler video to work. Until next time I will see you onn the water.

First I want to wish all the guy's fishing Bass Champs good luck this weekend. Since I am not fishing any events this weekend, I decided to go out and see if the fish are moving any. Well I found several small just keeper fish shallow using a white spinner bait on the back side of the grass. The water temp's are moving up and I found 58 to 60 today, but remember that is surface temps. I moved back out to the 20 foot range and threw the same Santone blueberry jig tipped with an E2 doodle bug and I found this girl eating in about eighteen foot of water. She was no 6 pounder but still a good fish any way you look at it. For those of you looking for tournament results I apologize but the lack of paying sponsors has forced me to slow down my driving to events that I am not entered in just to do reports. Until next time I will see you on the water. (maybe I will get my video camera out and do a little filming of the smaller fish) Good luck to all. Jay
My 1st for 2010
January 13, 2010, I decided to go out and fish a little due to the weather turning a few degrees warmer and what a great trip it turned out to be. With the weather being so cold and the water temps in the 47 to 50 range, I decided to flip some hydrilla that was in the 18' to 20' range, I was using a 3/4 oz Santone Rattlin jig in blueberry color, tipped with a e2 black and blue Doodle Bug when this monster hit. I am still in a little shock over the size of this fish, and it looked bigger in real life. I did not have a scale in the boat, so the best I could do was to photograph the fish on my check it stick. As you can tell the fish went over 24 inchs which just means to me it was at least 9 pounds and maybe more. All I can say is if your not fishing Toledo Bend this time of year your missing the boat. I want to thank Santone lures and E2 baits for putting out a great product and one that really produces. Until next time I will see you on the water.
